Volunteer

WAGS volunteers engage in a variety of activities, including learning dog training techniques, fostering and walking dogs, bathing them, and providing companionship through snuggling and playtime. They also assist in finding adopters for dogs, and as a way to recognize their contributions, WAGS awards training certificates through the Smart Pup training program and offers volunteer hour incentives for those who successfully promote dog adoptions on social media. Additionally, students participating in the foster program can earn significant volunteer hours towards college.

At WAGS, we are dedicated to training shelter dogs through our Smart Pup Training program, which enhances their adoptability by 1.5%, a crucial margin for dogs who may be just hours away from euthanasia. We believe that teaching basic commands not only improves their chances of finding permanent homes but also plays a vital role in saving lives, as each trained dog represents a hopeful future for both the animals and the families who will welcome them.
