Meet Tammie! Tammie arrived at WAGS as a dog who found herself on the euthanasia list at our local shelter. She was literally starving, and because of this, everything that was not food became food. Tammie suffered from eating inedible objects just to try to fill her belly. Through love and care, Tammie has gained weight, loves to play with male dogs, and most of all, loves afternoons in the sunshine.
Tammie is 4 years old, 65 pounds, spayed, up to date on vaccinations, and housebroken. Tammie takes time to trust new people; multiple meet-and-greets would be a required commitment, as Tammie experiences stranger danger.
Tammie has a bite history, especially when meeting and engaging with new people, is in an escalated state, or is experiencing high levels of prey drive. Tammie can not go to a home with children, female dogs, or in an environment with high traffic.
Tammie is muzzled-trained and electric collar trained. She does best with a handler who will challenge her mind and play puzzle-type games for treats. When she is focused and highly engaged, she does not exhibit reactive behavior. Tammie is highly protective of her environment and her people. When she bonds with you, she will guard her humans with her life. She will simply need time to know you, that you feed her, and that she can trust you.
